Why does Frame Timer show a frame number instead of milliseconds?

A dropped frame is nearly impossible to spot in a millisecond-based display, because the eye can't judge a few milliseconds of error. Counting in whole frames of your actual production frame rate makes a single dropped frame immediately visible when you scrub the recording.

What is the ring of tick marks around the timer?

It's one tick per frame of your selected rate. Each elapsed frame lights up and stays lit, filling the ring clockwise, then the whole ring resets the instant a new second begins. If footage ever shows the fill jump by more than one tick between frames, a frame was dropped in transmission.

Does the on-screen count itself ever drift or skip?

No. The frame count is calculated from the device's monotonic system clock, not from how often the screen actually redraws. Even if the display's own refresh is briefly slow, the number shown for a given instant is always correct.

Can I use Frame Timer in landscape?

Yes — the layout adapts between portrait and landscape automatically, so you can mount the device however fits your rig.
